Imagine a crowded hospital where one nurse is responsible for several women in labor at the same time. Every second can mean the difference between life and death for mother and baby.
On March 4, 2026, Indian company Doto Health (formerly CareMother) officially launched Nurtura – an intelligent AI Co-Pilot designed exactly for these high-pressure situations.

What is Nurtura?
Nurtura combines wireless, portable monitoring devices (including solar-powered versions) with a powerful AI engine.
The system tracks key parameters in real time:
- fetal heart rate
- uterine contractions
- maternal blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and other vital signs
The AI analyzes the data (including classic CTG curves), automatically detects risks, and instantly sends alerts to the medical team. It also helps with documentation and suggests simple next steps.
It doesn’t replace doctors or midwives — it acts as an extra intelligent brain that reduces workload and enables faster responses.
Why This Could Be a Real Game-Changer
Doto Health is targeting high-volume hospitals — both in India (already active in over 25 states) and in developing countries. The company has successful pilots in Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
“AI is the timely and appropriate solution to global health challenges, overcoming shortages in staff, skills, and budgets,” says Shantanu Pathak, Founder & CEO of Doto Health.

What This Means for Mothers in Practice
- Earlier detection of complications
- Lower risk of emergencies
- Better communication between medical staff and the mother
- Less burden on nurses and doctors → higher quality of care
Nurtura is another powerful proof that AI can literally save lives — especially where access to skilled medical staff is limited.

Your Turn
Do you believe AI like Nurtura can significantly improve birth safety — especially in countries with limited healthcare resources? Or are you worried that no machine can ever replace a doctor’s human touch and intuition?
