Figure AI has taken another major step toward bringing truly useful humanoid robots into our homes.
On October 9, 2025, the company officially unveiled Figure 03 — its third-generation humanoid robot, specifically engineered for domestic environments and everyday household tasks.
Key Features of Figure 03
- Palm Cameras in Both Hands Each hand now contains an embedded camera that provides close-range visual feedback. This allows the robot to see what its head cameras cannot — for example, when reaching deep into a cabinet or working in tight spaces.
- Ultra-Sensitive Touch Sensors The fingertips can detect forces as small as 3 grams (roughly the weight of a paperclip). This level of sensitivity enables precise handling of fragile objects, early detection of slippage, and gentle manipulation — critical for tasks like folding clothes, washing dishes, or handling glassware.
- Soft Foam Safety Layer + Textile Covering To make the robot safe for home use (especially around children and pets), Figure 03 features strategically placed multi-density foam padding and soft, washable textile coverings instead of hard metal parts. This significantly reduces the risk of pinching or accidental injury.
- Helix AI – On-Device Intelligence The robot is powered by Figure’s proprietary vision-language-action model called Helix, which allows it to learn new tasks by observing humans and operate safely in unpredictable home environments.
Designed for Real Home Use
Figure 03 is significantly lighter and more compact than previous generations. It can:
- Navigate narrow home spaces
- Perform household chores (laundry, dishwashing, tidying, serving food)
- Learn tasks through demonstration
- Operate safely around people thanks to its soft exterior and advanced tactile sensing
What This Means for the Future
Figure 03 represents a clear shift from industrial-focused humanoids to robots designed to live and work alongside humans in everyday homes. With its advanced sensing and safety features, it is currently one of the strongest candidates to become the first mass-adopted home humanoid robot.
