First delay → Q1 2026. Now, in early March 2026, OpenAI confirmed to Axios and TechCrunch: Adult Mode is delayed again.
Official reason? “We’re focusing on higher-priority work for the majority of users — improving intelligence, personalization, personality, and more proactive AI behaviour.”

Reddit (r/ChatGPT, r/ChatGPTcomplaints), Discord servers, and X are exploding with frustration:
- “We’ve been waiting for a girlfriend for over a year and keep getting ‘soon’”
